RIGS202 - NVQ LEVEL 3: HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE (Adult)
Course Overview:
At level 3, the application of knowledge is assessed through a wider range of work activity, where the context of application is non-repetitive, complex and where the candidate has to demonstrate a greater degree of responsibility and authority. This will include the guidance of other junior staff.
Course Content:
There are four mandatory units and four optional units, the latter being chosen on the basis of the particular care setting of the student.
Mandatory Units:
- Promote effective communications for and about individuals.
- Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment.
- Reflect on and develop your practice.
- Promote choice, well-being and the protection of all individuals.
Teaching and Assessment:
NVQs are assessed by a qualified and experienced assessor who confirms that your level of competence satisfies all performance, knowledge and evidence requirements before deciding that each unit has been completed.
Entrance Requirements:
There is no specific prior learning required for this qualification other than a reasonable standard of general education.

Careers and Options for Further Study:
Progression to level 4 NVQs in Health and Social Care are available. In essence, your job role will enable you to achieve the units. NVQs in Management are also possible, if you are able to achieve the competences through your normal job. An increasing number of Level 3 learners are being accepted into nursing, social work and other health and social care related professions.
