RIGS203 - NVQ LEVEL 4: HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE (ADULT)
At level 4, the candidate will be assessed on his/her broad knowledge base, technical and professional skills, level of authority and responsibility for his/her work and the work of others. The work range is complex and non-repetitive.
The candidate will work without direct supervision, in a management capacity. They will have a certain degree of autonomy and be able and obliged to make decisions based on boundaries set previously.
Course Content:
There are four core units and four optional units to be completed.
Core Units:
- Use and develop methods and systems to communicate, record and report.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of healthy and safe practices in the working environment.
- Take responsibility for the continuing professional development (CPD) of yourself and others.
- Develop practices that promote choice, and the well-being and protection of all individuals.
The optional units that you will take depend on the particular role and the care setting of your placement.
Teaching and Assessment:
NVQs are assessed by a qualified and experienced assessor who confirms that your level of competence satisfies all performance, knowledge and evidence requirements before deciding that each unit has been completed.
Entrance Requirements:
There is no specific prior learning required for this qualification other than a reasonable standard of general education.

Careers and Options for Further Study:
There are many career opportunities in social work and other health and social care related professions. Therefore, if appropriate, it is possible for you to achieve a number of relevant units at Level 4 to suit your changing job roles. For example, your role could change from working with individuals with learning difficulties to caring for older people. Also, this can provide evidence for CPD. Other qualifications in management, including NVQs, are available, but your job role will determine which ones you are able to undertake.
